Ten Years Moving Cargo Out of Qingdao
TheWan started in 2016 in Qingdao, Shandong Province — a port that handles over 22 million TEU a year and ranks among the busiest in the world. The founders had both worked for large Chinese logistics companies and saw the same pattern: big forwarders charged high minimums that made small and mid-sized shipments expensive. Local forwarders could get low rates on the China side but had no reliable overseas partners for the destination work. TheWan was built to sit in the middle — carrier contracts that work for 1 CBM or 50 FCL, and a destination agent network that actually answers messages.
Ten years in, we run a Class-A licensed operation spanning five freight modes: FCL and LCL ocean, air freight, China-Europe block train, multimodal sea-air, and door-to-door DDP. We hold direct service contracts — not broker agreements — with COSCO Shipping, Maersk, CMA CGM, Evergreen, Hapag-Lloyd, OOCL, ONE, Yang Ming, HMM, and ZIM. On the air side we consolidate through Emirates, Qatar Airways, Air China, China Southern, Lufthansa, Cathay Pacific, and UPS.
Our team now handles cargo for over 500 importers across 65 countries. Bookings, customs declarations, trucking, and documentation are all done in-house — we do not subcontract core operations to third parties. We own 40+ trucks stationed at Qingdao for container drayage, operate a bonded warehouse in the Qingdao Free Trade Zone for LCL consolidation, and employ licensed customs brokers who file declarations at all major Chinese ports. Our CFS in the Qingdao Free Trade Zone handles multi-supplier consolidation, palletizing, labeling, photo inspection, and short-term storage. Cargo sits duty-unpaid until export.
